The latest from the office diary of doom

A few of you might remember the blog I wrote about the oddly random (and frequently grim) commemorative dates mentioned in my office diary? Well anyway, check out just a few of the dates mentioned this week:

6th July - The Piper Alpha drilling platform is destroyed by explosions and fires killing 167 men (1988)

7th July - French troops invade Luxembourg (1543)

10th July - Leak of toxic weedkiller 40,000 animals, Seveso, Italy (1976)

11th July - Sir Lawrence Olivier, English stage and screen actor, died (1989)

Good grief! Didn't anything nice happen on this week in history??

  I'm starting to wonder. I reckon if I follow the trail back to the source I'll find Newt and Lauren from Hollyoaks in a jet-black basement plastered with Donnie Darko posters, producing these bloody diaries!

I remember Piper Alpha. I used to work in the oil industry and knew a lot of folk who knew people on the platform. Terrible.
