I've already won several pints of beer on this subject by callously accepting a bet from a friend of mine. How? Simple. He bet me that Guns N Roses' new album, Chinese Democracy, would actually be released on its release date in March this year. Being older and more cynical about the ways of Axl, I offered my friend double or quits that the album wouldn't appear on the next release date that was announced either. Yeah, I know, but it was free beer.

I don't think I'm sticking my neck out too far by saying Chinese Democracy will never be released in any format. Axl's too much of a perfectionist, too much of a control freak, too much of a...twat, basically. Or, if it does eventually get released, it will be completely crap. Or, even if it isn't completely crap, it will seem like it is because no album that has ever existed would have warranted a 14-year gestation period. Nor could any album that has been stewing that long seem like anything but an enormous anti-climax. How could it be otherwise? That said, I'd still like to hear it. As everyone else on the internet is no doubt saying - Axl, just fucking release the album.
